Bellsmyre Housing Association celebrates 25 years in the community with fun day
Bellsmyre Housing Association hosted a fantastic Fun Day on August 26 as part of its 25th anniversary celebrations.
The day started at 10am on Loaninghead Drive with the planting of a Japanese Flowering “Prunis Kanzan” Cherry Blossom Tree by MSP Jackie Baillie to commemorate the Association’s 25th Anniversary. The fun then really began for the younger members of the Bellsmyre community with the arrival of the big red play bus along with free face painting and glitter tattoos, balloon modelling, refreshments and a fire engine to explore.
The fun day is organised by Bellsmyre Housing Association annually to allow tenants and the community to interact socially with Bellsmyre, hear about our plans for the future and to provide an opportunity to give their views and opinions on housing and community.
Jackie Baillie MSP said: “I was delighted to join local residents to mark the 25th anniversary of Bellsmyre Housing Association. Over recent years Bellsmyre has gone from strength to strength and there are so many positive changes worth celebrating, particularly the new-build OLSP which will open soon and planned investment in housing on the horizon. Since Caledonia Housing Association joined with Bellsmyre there have been improvements in the housing and the estate and I look forward to continuing to work with them in future to improve our local area.”
Barry Johnstone, the Association’s area director, acknowledged the contribution of Bellsmyre Housing Association staff for taking time out of their weekend to ensure that the event was the success.
He added: “This fun day has been part of a series of initiatives to acknowledge this significant milestone in the Association’s history. Moreover it was a great opportunity to be visible in the community and hear first-hand from residents what really matters to them, and how we can help deliver on their priorities.”
