Bield appeals for West Lothian volunteers
Care and housing provider Bield has appealed for volunteers to help at the Ochilview Court retirement housing development in West Lothian.
The company is looking for volunteers to help with the development’s weekly lunch club on Thursday afternoons, which sees tenants given the opportunity to chat and socialise with one another over lunch. The scheme is part of Bield’s social activities programme.
Eighty-seven-year-old tenant Alice Kerr said: “It’s important to socialise with other tenants. I love the entertainment, and the lunch club meals are so tasty, so nice to get them served to you.”
Bield also wants volunteers for special occasions including Burns suppers and birthday parties.
Ochilview Court manager Mableanne Fraser said: “Many of our social activities have been a knock-out success among tenants, and so we are very keen to keep the social activites running.
“So many people in the development look forward to the chance to socialise and chat with their neighbours, and this is why we are keen to expand on the tenants’ social activities.
“They are a great opportunity to get our tenants out of their houses and having a bit of fun, whilst building real and genuine friendships along the way, which we believe really helps to enrich their lives.”
