Bield seeking volunteers in Dundee
Bield has launched an appeal to find friendly and enthusiastic volunteers for its Shiell Court retirement housing development in Dundee, to assist with a range of social activities such as bingo and quiz days.
Implementing programmes of social activities have proven to be a huge success, as they allow tenants to enjoy the opportunity to interact and socialise with others in their development and community.
The social activity programme is central to Bield’s “free to be” ethos, which supports people to make their own decisions about how they live their lives while also being there to assist them when they need it.
Bield’s volunteering team in Dundee, lead by volunteer development worker Jeni Sinclair has been so successful, that they recently received the Volunteer Friendly Award from the Volunteer Centre Dundee.
Jeni said: “Our volunteers are an integral part of our development as they can often encourage service users to get out and about and meet new people, which we believe is very important.
“Implementing programmes of social activities have proven to be a huge success, allowing tenants to enjoy the opportunity to interact and socialise with others in their development and community.
“We are always looking for ways to enrich the lives of our tenants and the positive feedback we have received – especially the Volunteer Friendly Award - proves that this programme is incredibly beneficial and rewarding for our tenants and our volunteers.”
