Bield seeking volunteers in Perth
Housing and care provider Bield is highlighting the important role that volunteers can play in assisting older people to enjoy happy and fulfilled lives in Perth & Kinross.
Gladstone Court Retirement Housing Development in Perth is looking for friendly and enthusiastic befrienders and social activity co-ordinators to help with a range of volunteer work such as socialising with tenants and supporting tenants with weekly quizzes.
Befrienders spend one-on-one time with tenants to provide companionship and an essential social element to their day. Helping to improve tenant wellbeing, becoming a befriender is a hugely rewarding experience.
Aiding in getting tenants together, social activity co-ordinators help to organise group activities at the development.
Nora Toolan, development manager at Gladstone Court, said: “We really do appreciate the huge impact our befrienders and social activity co-ordinators have in enhancing and enriching the lives of tenants.”
“It is vitally important to us at Bield to be able to ensure that everyone gets a chance to interact with people inside and outside the development on a regular basis. Befrienders and social activity co-ordinators give tenants such an opportunity.”
Hours are varied and flexible but Bield look for a minimum six-month commitment on a weekly or fortnightly basis. Enquiries are welcome from people of all ages over 16. Full training and support will be given and out-of-pocket expenses paid.
For more information on this hugely rewarding opportunity please contact Nora Toolan on 01738 634 222 or Jeni Sinclair on 01382 309 059.
