Tenants at a Bield very sheltered housing development in Linlithgow welcomed family and friends as they created the ultimate early Christmas present - raising a whopping £800.

Their Christmas fair and ‘bauble swap’ events raised the total for their social funds to ensure the festive season at the development is as enjoyable as possible.

Rena Kirton-Vaughan, manager at Brae Court, said: “We’re so grateful for the support and donations from everyone here at Brae Court; their friends, family and loved ones.

“It’s a fantastic way to kick off the festive season and really sets us up for even more fun and frivolity over Christmas and the New Year.”

Tenants manned the stalls at the fair, assisted by family members and staff volunteers, while visitors had the opportunity to play two tombolas, buy homemade arts, crafts and baking.

The ‘bauble swap’ offered tenants the chance of a bit of competition and tactical nous.

Rena added: “Each person brings along a tree bauble which is wrapped and people then take it in turns to choose one of the baubles.

“Everyone then unwraps the bauble they have chosen and decide whether to keep it or swap for one they like that has been picked by someone else. Once a bauble has been swapped twice the person who has it keeps it.

“It’s just a bit of fun but it can get really quite tactical!”
