Bield volunteers welcome in Buckhaven
Housing and care provider Bield is highlighting the important role that volunteers can play in assisting older people to enjoy happy and fulfilled lives in Fife.
Braehead Gardens Very Sheltered Housing Development in Buckhaven is looking for friendly and enthusiastic befrienders to get to know and socialise with tenants helping to broaden their horizons.
Befrienders spend one-on-one time with tenants to provide companionship and an essential social element to their day. Helping to improve tenant wellbeing, becoming a befriender is a hugely rewarding experience.
Rae England, development manager at Braehead Gardens, said: “We really do appreciate the huge impact our befrienders make in enhancing and enriching the lives of our tenants.”
“It is vitally important to us at Bield to be able to ensure that everyone gets a chance to interact with people inside and outside the development on a regular basis. Befrienders give tenants such an opportunity.”
Hours are varied and flexible but Bield look for a minimum six-month commitment on a weekly basis. Enquiries are welcome from people of all ages over 16. Full training and support will be given and out-of-pocket expenses paid.
