Bield’s Bearsden housing builds on its success
A new housing development in Bearsden has been nominated for another top property award after being named Senior Living Development of the Year in 2015.
Bield’s St Andrew’s View, located on the site of the former St Andrew’s College in Bearsden, was announced as a national finalist in the Outstanding Approach to Promoting Home Ownership category at this year’s UK Housing Awards.
The awards are uniquely designed to pinpoint excellence and reward innovation – shining a light on the ingenuity, creativity and passion demonstrated by social landlords across the UK.
Stuart Dow, director of asset management at Bield, said: “We are absolutely delighted that St Andrew’s View was recognised for consideration of yet another top property accolade.
“In particular, it says something about the quality of the build and the concept behind St Andrew’s View to be nominated for awards labelled the most prestigious and well-respected in the housing sector.
“We wanted to build a development tailored for older people that is indistinguishable from any other new build property on the market and we are thrilled that our efforts were recognised in this year.”
The awards, which identify outstanding work by housing organisations to improve the lives of people in their communities, are organised by the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) and Inside Housing magazine.
Celebrating its 20th anniversary, this year’s awards attracted more than 250 entries from all over the UK.
Emma Maier, editor of Inside Housing, said: “The quality of the entries rose again this year so any nomination is an amazing achievement. In the face of some really stiff competition, Bield has shown it is performing at the highest level - well done! Being our 20th anniversary means the evening will be even more memorable and we have some great celebrations planned.”
The 20 one and two-bed modern apartments are designed to specifically meet the needs of prospective purchasers and have been built to an uncompromising standard for Bield, one of Scotland’s leading providers of housing for older buyers.
