Blochairn Housing Association gives all tenants a £75 Christmas bonus
Blochairn Housing Association has announced that every tenant will receive its £75 Christmas bonus.
In 2001, the Association became the first housing organisation in Glasgow to provide a tenant bonus, which is designed to acknowledge the contribution made by tenants who pay their rent, look after their house and property and behave in a decent, respectful and neighbourly fashion. The payment marks their important contribution to the wellbeing of the community.
A spokesperson from Blochairn said: “Whether a Christmas bonus is paid depends on time and effort needed to manage situations. With fewer staff than similar organisations, the Association said that its partnership with tenants is so important.
“This year is different. It has been extremely difficult for us, as an organisation, and for our residents and our community. So, for Christmas 2020, we have decided that every tenant will receive the £75 Christmas bonus.
“As we can’t deliver our traditional Christmas gift to our pensioners and young people this year we will pay £10 to every person who is over 60 or under 16 years of age.
“This is just a small gesture of solidarity with our community and to say thank you to residents for everything they do to help us to make Blochairn a place that people are happy to live in and proud to say they come from.
“Our tenant bonus scheme includes a monthly prize draw at our management committee meeting. Two winners collect their £50 cheques and make the draw for the current month. COVID 19 put a stop to all that but our staff made the draws for March to December last week. That’s 10 months and 20 lucky winners and £50 will drop into the bank accounts this week!”
Blochairn said it hopes everyone can have a Happy Christmas and a great New Year, as much as they can in these difficult times.
