Bonnybridge quilter stitches support for LinkLiving
Bonnybridge-based quilter Sheila Williams has raised £1,148 for vulnerable and isolated people living across central Scotland.
To raise the funds Sheila organised a Quaffle (quilt raffle) to support LinkLiving, a charity which supports 2,000 of the most vulnerable, isolated, and often traumatised people across Scotland.
Sheila said: “Donating the quilt and raising awareness of LinkLiving gave me a sense of purpose during a difficult time where I felt helpless and was unable to volunteer due to shielding.
“It breaks my heart to see people homeless or struggling and, as a community, I feel we should always try to help those less fortunate than ourselves.
“I would like to thank everyone who took part in the Quaffle, every penny helps this fantastic charity support so many vulnerable people.”
Sarah Smith, LinkLiving’s CEO, added: “We are absolutely delighted and so grateful to Sheila for donating her time, and everyone who took part in the Quaffle, to help the people we support - many of them have absolutely no one to turn to in these dark times.
“We support young people, who have come from care or who have been homeless, adults who have experienced childhood trauma or who have severe and enduring mental health problems, older people who have become isolated and lonely.
“We support people in the community within their own homes and in our supported accommodation run 24/7 by our dedicated staff teams.”
