Business Fives kicks off summer season with Edinburgh Construction, Housing & Property event
Six companies from Scotland’s Construction, Housing & Property industry will be represented at the Business Fives national final after the sector hosts two qualifying events in Edinburgh and Glasgow this summer.
The East of Scotland event is first up on Tuesday 24th July with the West meeting on August 9th in Glasgow.
With continued support from Scottish Construction Now, Scottish Housing News and Scottish Property Federation this summer Business Fives will host events in five Scottish cities as part of their Summer 2018 Season.
Excitement is growing for the Edinburgh event which is less than a week away. There are a host of stellar companies already signed up to take part; Kingdom Housing Association, ESPC, Thomson Gray, Braemore Property, Castle Rock Edinvar, DJ Alexander, Dunedin Canmore, Hudson and GVA are ready to play and raise money for their charity partners. Last years’ champions, Hudson, are back to defend their title alongside the first ever Construction, Housing & Property champions DJ Alexander but who will take their title for 2018?
The companies involved in the Glasgow event still have a little bit of time to finalise their team sheets and train for the event. Dougall Baillie Associates, City Building Engineering Services, Wise Property Group, Stewart Milne Group, Swan Group, Stewart & Shields, Advance Construction, Lovell, Engie, Sir Robert McAlpine, Alpha Trade Solutions, Scottish Water and Story Contracting will have their chance to play for their charity partners on Thursday 9th August. Each of the teams will be looking to take Sector Champions the title from A.C Whyte who won this event and went on to lift the overall summer season title in 2017.
Both events are taking place at the Powerleague venues at the Sighthill and Townhead.
The teams from this sector have shown themselves to be some of the most generous across all the sectors and last year the teams manage to raise almost £7,000.
For a fifth season Business Fives have again committed to awarding the winning team with a bumper donation of 10 per cent from the event’s revenue to donate to their chosen charity.
Business Fives boasts some famous ex-players and sporting celebrities as ambassadors including footballer former Rangers star and ex-SFA boss Gordon Smith, ex-Celtic star Tosh McKinlay, Former Hibs managers, John Hughes and John Collins along with TV presenter David Tanner.
Tournament founder and Business Fives managing director John McClarey, who also organised a highly-successful inaugural Business Fours golf tournament earlier this year, said: “The events have proven to be a very big hit with the Technology & IT Sector and allows a wide range of job roles to come together on the football pitch and down tools for the afternoon. We’ve been really impressed at the charitable efforts from the sector that has lived up to its reputation of having communities at the heart of their work. Given the mix of companies we’ve had involved it promises to be another good networking opportunity for the industry.”
