Business Fives summer season 2018 kicking off in Edinburgh with the Construction, Housing & Property event
The Construction, Housing & Property sector has been well represented at Business Fives with over 70 companies from the sector involved in the corporate football events.
The sector has also been the most generous when it comes to charitable efforts with £15,000 raised in just two years by the Construction, Housing & Property industry.
Together with the continued support of Scottish Construction Now, Scottish Housing News and the Scottish Property Federation there will be two qualifying events in both Edinburgh and Glasgow this summer. The Edinburgh event will see Business Fives kick off for the summer 2018 season with the first of eleven regional sector events across the country.
Business Fives have again committed to giving a bumper donation of 10% from the event’s revenue to the winning team’s chosen charity and the success of the Construction, Housing & Property teams have been a big factor in their substantial contribution.
Business Fives, the five-a-side corporate events company for football-loving professionals, is now entering its fifth season as the summer season takes in five Scottish cities for the first time - Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Inverness and Dundee - with teams competing for a place in the grand final in Edinburgh on September 26.
Building on its year-on-year success, having worked with more than 400 companies and raised over £42,000 for charities since launching in 2016, Business Fives boasts some famous ex-players and sporting celebrities as ambassadors including footballer former Rangers star and ex-SFA boss Gordon Smith, ex-Celtic star turned commentator Andy Walker, Hibs legend Pat Stanton, Hearts stalwart Gary Mackay, BBC Pundit Tam McManus along with TV presenter David Tanner.
Tournament founder and Business Fives managing director, John McClarey, who also organised a highly-successful inaugural Business Fours golf tournament earlier this year, said: “The events have proven to be a very big hit with the Construction, Housing & Property sector and allows a wide range of job roles to come together on the football pitch and down tools for the afternoon. We’ve been really impressed at the charitable efforts from the sector that has lived up to its reputation of having communities at the heart of their work. Given the mix of companies we’ve had involved it promises to be another good networking opportunity for the industry.”
Scottish Construction Now and Scottish Housing News editor, Kieran Findlay, said: “We have been long supporters of both Business Fives and Business Fours as they are enjoyable events which are great for networking while raising money for notable causes in the process.
“We would encourage companies who have yet to be involved to give it a go.”
David Melhuish, Scottish Property Federation director, added: “We are pleased to once again be partnering with Business Fives following the success of the competition in recent years. Getting the chance to bring the property sector together while promoting a healthy and active lifestyle is fantastic. Given the companies already signed up for this summer’s events in Edinburgh and Glasgow, we have no doubt that this will be another major success and a great opportunity for property businesses to raise their profile, support a great cause and have some competitive fun!”
