Cadder Housing Association hails success of fun day
Cadder Housing Association delivered a sizzler of a day out for its residents and the whole community.
Under sunny skies and soaring temperatures, families flocked to the free Family Fun Day staged by the housing association featuring a host of activities designed to bring the community together.
Held at Cadder Community Centre and on nearby parkland the day included a host of family-focused activities such as a bouncy castle, DJ and “Beat the Goalie” challenge.
Jennifer MacDonald of Cadder’s Corporate Services team masterminded the occasion supported by a large turnout from colleagues. Jennifer said: “It was a day to remember and represented the ideal opportunity for the Cadder community to have a family fun day out. Judging by the response from those who came along it was a great success.”
A number of organisations had a presence at the event including residents’ group Cadder Care, Glasgow’s Kindness Project, Lambhill Church, charity Action for Children, energy company Utilita and Kelvin College.
The association also provided 500 free lunches for youngsters who came along. A wide-ranging consultation exercise is being undertaken by the Association to determine what people would like to see from their Community Centre
Community Links Scotland is undertaking this exercise on behalf of the Association and its Director Stephen Singer attended the event to speak to local people.
Residents were able to post their views on a noticeboard giving Community Links Scotland and Cadder Housing Association a valuable insight into what people want.
Pamela Milne, Cadder Housing Association’s chief executive, added: “We are listening carefully to the views of our residents and the wider Cadder community. We will assess what people want from their community centre which we intend to fully re-open in due course. The Family Fun Day was a magnificent success and I want to thank everyone who helped make it a day to remember.”
