Cadder Housing Association opens new community centre
Cadder Housing Association held the officially opening of its new state of the art community centre on Friday.
The new centre was designed by Cooper Cromar Architects and built by Clark Contracts at a total cost of £3.1 million.
Bob Doris MSP formally opened the centre and was full of praise for the new centre in the heart of the community and the opportunities it gives local residents to access services, activities and events. He congratulated Cadder Housing Association and their partnership working with the local community to design and deliver the new centre.
The former Lord Provost Bob Winter, who had a pivotal role in working with Cadder Housing Association and community representatives to save the original centre and sports hall from closure in 2010, also spoke at the opening ceremony. He spoke vividly about the journey which has created a fabulous community centre for local residents to use.
Linda Brown, chairperson of Cadder Housing Association, said: “We are extremely proud of our new community centre, where it has been designed and constructed to a high quality to meet a range of themed uses based on the community’s needs, wants and aspirations for the new centre.
“We would like to thank all the Consultants for their sterling work and commitment to the project, and our funders for their financial support towards the cost of the centre.”
