Cadder teams up with Kindness Homeless Street Team to deliver new community hub
A Cadder community centre is to finally reopen after being blighted by funding cuts following the pandemic.
The centre will be rebranded as Cadder Community Hub and will deliver a range of services, social activities and community lets to ensure that residents can make full use of this modern facility.
Cadder Housing Association has been looking for alternative ways to ensure the Hub is viable and has developed an innovative partnership with Kindness Homeless Street Team. Kindness is well known throughout Glasgow for the work that they do across the city to ensure that the “lives of others improve through caring”.
Over recent months, Cadder Housing Association has consulted with the community extensively to ensure that their priorities are addressed within the new Hub and the teams of Cadder and Kindness are working to fulfil those priorities and are aiming for a grand opening of the Hub in November this year.
Pamela Milne, CEO of Cadder, said: “The reopening of this fabulous community facility has been a priority for our board for many months, and I am delighted that we have been able to work in partnership with Kindness to make this happen.
“Our community has told us very clearly what they want from the Hub and we are committed to delivering exciting, innovative and transformational services. We have already worked in partnership with Kindness on a range of initiatives that have offered significant support within the community throughout the cost-of-living crisis.”
Laura McSorley, founder of Kindness Homeless Street Team, shares Pamela’s commitment to the Hub, adding: “It’s an exciting time for Kindness to be able to serve the wider community and work closely with the Cadder residents to ensure we make the best use of the space we have. Our volunteers and trustees are committed to making the world a better place! We are delighted with our partnership and look forward to welcoming you to the Hub!”
The next few months will be a busy period for both teams as they prepare the Hub to welcome its first customers in November.
