More than 300 young footballers competed in the 2016 Cairn Cup which was hosted for the third year running by Cradlehall Primary School in Inverness.

The event featured three different age-group competitions and involved 115 matches over one action packed Saturday. Lochardil FC picked up the trophy for Primary 2/3 teams before Milton of Leys FC collected the silverware in the P4/5 and P6/7 age groups.

The Cairn Cup is funded by Cairn Housing Association’s Community Fund and has grown from a small competition in 2014 to a fixture on Inverness’ sporting calendar which now involves teams from across the city. Around 600 people passed through Cradlehall’s school gates throughout the day with bouncy castles, face painting, an ice cream van and barbeques entertaining the crowds.
