Cala to stage second consultation event for Lochwinnoch proposal

Cala Homes (West) is inviting local people to attend a second stage consultation event to learn more about its proposals to create a residential development at Burnfoot Road, Lochwinnoch.

The event follows a successful first stage consultation held on 12 September attended by 150 local people attended, 100 of whom shared feedback on the proposed development. Now, Cala Homes (West) alongside members of the project team will show how this feedback has been considered in the masterplan as it progresses a planning application with Renfrewshire Council.

The second public consultation event will be held on 30 October between 1-7pm at the McKillop Institute, Main Street, Lochwinnoch, PA12 4AJ.

Cala hopes to deliver 100 much needed new homes including 75 for private sale, comprised of three-bedroom terraced and four- and five-bedroom detached properties.  A further 25 affordable homes would complement the housing mix, creating an accessible development attractive to a variety of residents within the community.

The site is allocated for housing within the Renfrewshire Local Development Plan 2021. Working with an expert project team, Cala has designed the development to feature generous green space. It will also include a play area, a village green and active travel routes connecting to the wider community.

Gillian Hessett, land manager at Cala Homes, said: “We were pleased to see a strong turn-out at the first event and helpfully, 100 people shared their feedback. This is vital as we refine proposals that will importantly enhance the local community with high-quality and sustainable homes.

“Scotland currently faces a housing emergency and we must progress with the delivery of private and affordable homes in a bid to remedy the imbalance between supply and demand. Cala Homes (West) has been a long-standing neighbour in Renfrewshire with our Gilchrist Gardens development in Erskine creating a much-loved place to call home by many local people.”
