Caledonia Housing Association granted funding to support elderly communities
Caledonia Housing Association has received confirmation that their PCF(People and Communities Fund) grant of £24,000 has been approved.
This grant will go towards furthering the funding their volunteer project.
This is the 2nd year Caledonia housing Association has received funding from the People and Communities Fund (PCF) Grant, giving them the chance to provide support and befriending service to older people throughout the community. With the aim of reducing social isolation and bring communities and people together in sheltered accommodation across Dundee, Angus, Perth and Kinross and North East Fife.
Gill Donoghue, Head of Support Services for Older People at Caledonia Housing Association said “We are delighted to receive this funding from the PCF. The Volunteer Service plays a vital role in reducing social isolation amongst our elderly tenants whilst providing valuable opportunities to our volunteers to gain work experience and qualifications”
Caledonia Housing Association’s Volunteer Service supports volunteers to undertake a variety of different roles within the project. People of all ages and backgrounds can volunteer, whether that is volunteering one-to-one or helping to support weekly social activities.
The association aims to recruit an additional 25 volunteers in the coming year, who they hope will be able to gain recognised qualifiations as a result of their involvement with the volunteer project at Caledonia Housing Association.
