Call for nominations for Mary Barbour Award 2018
Now in its third year, the Award was created to pay homage to Mary Barbour and to celebrate local women following in her footsteps.
The Award has seen recognition go to not only the past winners but to the many fitting nominees that have been part of the event over the last two years.
Housing activist Anna Stuart, who founded the Castlemilk East Housing Co-operative in 1984, was crowned the first recipient of the Mary Barbour Award with Sadie Gordon, vice chair of Queens Cross Housing Association, winning the award last year.
Parkhead Housing Association chair, Elizabeth Kennedy, said: “In this year which has seen the unveiling of a fantastic Mary Barbour Statue in Govan and the centenary of the suffragette’s securing voting rights for women, it is more fitting than ever to continue to recognise the fantastic work of female campaigners across Glasgow.
“We cannot wait to welcome the 2018 nominees and look forward to crowning another worthy winner.”
