Capital Credit Union enters partnership to help members go green
Capital Credit Union (CCU) has partnered with Greener Energy Group to assist members in funding eco-friendly home upgrades like solar panels, heat pumps, and EV chargers.
The partnership follows the successful launch of CCU’s green loan in 2023.
CEO Marlene Shiels welcomed the new collaboration, saying: “Many people come to us in the first place because of our ethical approach to financial services. The launch of our green loan and this exciting new partnership with the Greener Energy Group is a natural extension of that.
“We are currently being inundated with enquiries from members looking to finance improvements in the energy efficiency of their homes and this new partnership will provide the finance and expertise to allow more of them to do that in a cost-effective way at highly competitive rates.”
Since 2014, Greener Energy Group has installed over 2000 solar PV systems, many now with battery storage and over 2,200 air source heat pumps in Scottish homes, saving 5,029,000 kilograms of carbon dioxide, which it says is equivalent to 55,877 hours of flying on a Boeing 737 – or more than 55,000 flights from Glasgow to London.
The group’s managing director, Peter Chalmers, said: “We are really excited about our new Capital Credit Union partnership as it now gives our customers an easy option to install quality renewable energy systems from a reputable Scottish company funded with a very low interest rate.
“We see this as another positive step to help customers make the switch to renewables and to start saving energy and money on their fuel bills while also helping the environment.”
Customers can also currently claim a grant of up to £9,000 when they install an Air Source Heat Pump.
