Capital Credit Union reaches £1m green loans milestone
Capital Credit Union (CCU) is celebrating a significant milestone, having facilitated over £1 million in green loans to support eco-friendly home upgrades for Scottish households.
Since the launch of the initiative in September, hundreds of homeowners have been able to invest in renewable energy solutions such as solar panels, air source heat pumps, and electric vehicle (EV) chargers.
Marlene Shiels CEO said the milestone highlights CCU’s ethical and innovative approach to financial services, reinforcing its commitment to helping members and the environment.
She added: “Our green loan initiative has empowered our members to make impactful environmental changes while also saving on energy costs. Reaching £1 million in green loans demonstrates the appetite for renewable energy solutions and reflects our commitment to creating a greener and more sustainable future.”
This initiative builds on the success of CCU’s green loan, launched in 2023, which was designed to offer affordable financing for energy-efficient home improvements.
To encourage further adoption, customers can currently claim a grant of up to £9,000 for installing an air source heat pump, making renewable energy even more accessible.
