Castlehill Housing Association to undertake 3 Peaks challenge
From 3rd to 11th June a team from Castlehill Housing Association will climb the highest mountains in Wales, England & Scotland and cycle a route of 500 miles between the peaks.
The team will climb Snowdon on June 3rd and then cycle about 200 miles in four days before ascending Scafell Pike on Monday June 6th. A further five days in the saddle, totalling 300 miles, will be followed by the climb of Ben Nevis on Saturday 11th June.
The cycling team will be met by a group of hill climbers from Castlehill, who will join them at Fort William for the walk up Ben Nevis.
David Lappin, Castlehill’s chief executive, said: “Castlehill has a history of combining cycling events with fundraising. In 2009 and 2012, teams successfully completed the gruelling Land’s End to John O’ Groats bike ride. This year we wanted to do something slightly different, so we introduced the element of climbing, but we certainly don’t think we are making it any easier for ourselves!”
Funds are being raised for the Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) which provides the only hospice services in Scotland for children and young people with life shortening conditions.
CHAS runs two hospices in Kinross and Balloch and also provides home care services and support for families, including a team based in Aberdeen.
