CCG creates new Uddingston affordable homes
Taking the total number of new social houses built by the firm in Lanarkshire to over 170 over the past twelve months, the Hornal Road development comprises 60 state-of-the-art, two-bedroom flats which will be available for rent through the Clyde Valley Group (CVG). Twenty-four homes have been let to applicants from the housing waiting list with the remaining 36 allocated on a mid-market rent basis.
In total, CCG has created more than 170 new social houses for the Lanarkshire-based social housing provider, including 39 new semi-detached houses and flats on Bogside Road in Kilsyth in May 2016, 20 new homes in Sixth Street, Uddingston, 30 in Patchy Park, Larkhall and 32 in Brunel Way, East Kilbride. All of the houses have been built using off-site construction methods.
Calum Murray, director of CCG (Scotland) Ltd, said: “We’ve developed an excellent working relationship with CVG and it is a pleasure to see the completion of yet another social housing site in 2016.
“This development, like the majority of our social housing projects, was created using off-site construction methods, which allow us to produce environmentally-efficient, sustainable buildings with exceptionally good energy standards. Not only does this allow us to create homes that last, it also reduces our impact on the environment by minimising the need for transportation while cutting our carbon footprint.”
CVG chair, Campbell Boyd, said: “It is gratifying to be working with our partners, ultimately seeing positive outcomes on our housing developments, whilst meeting the growing demands of customers. Our on-going aim is to provide much-needed, affordable homes to our local community. The board of the Association is committed to meeting the significant demand for housing need and growing our housing stock with high-quality, energy-efficient properties. Ultimately, tenants benefit from having sustainable homes, comfortable living and having a secure, safe environment to live in.”
