Celebrating Scottish Housing Day in Fife
Fife Council celebrated Scottish Housing Day yesterday with retirement housing tenants at Burgh House in Leslie.
The day’s aim was to raise public awareness of housing options and housing journeys.
For young and old, the council and the Fife Housing Partnership are seeking to increase the range of housing options on offer to the people of Fife. They have the largest social rented new build programme in Scotland, and are on target to meet the council’s 2,700 new affordable homes by May 2017.
The council is building family housing and specific housing for people with sensory or physical disabilities.
Councillor Judy Hamilton, executive spokesperson for housing and building services, said: “I am delighted to be celebrating with our tenants at Burgh House. By working together, we have been able to see the tenants’ lounge transformed from its original condition, to a modern area fit for the social activities of our tenants now. This is an example of where we are going the extra mile to ensure that all housing is fit for purpose for tenants’ needs.
“We are making record investment in older persons’ housing to ensure that everyone is able to have a home suitable for their needs.”
