Cernach’s Laura-Jane Richards receives multiple Housing Studies awards
Cernach Housing Association senior housing officer Laura-Jane Richards has recently graduated from the University of Stirling with a distinction for her postgraduate degree in Housing Studies and has been awarded not one – but two prizes for academic achievement.
Laura-Jane was the recipient of TEAM construction prize for the top student in the second year cohort, alongside the top student overall in the academic year resulting in the CIH partnership prize award.
Andy Biddell, chairperson of Cernach Housing Association, said: “We’re delighted with Laura-Jane’s achievements whilst at University. It’s always great to see one of our staff succeed in further education, but to be awarded two prizes is exceptional and shows how hard Laura-Jane has worked to achieve this.”
Laura-Jane is currently seconded to Glasgow City Council’s Child Poverty Pathfinder in an innovative role working as the strategic housing adviser within the Glasgow Helps and No Wrong Door teams to address the city’s poverty challenge. Acting as key liaison and strategic lead, Laura-Jane works to ensure that the voice of community-based housing providers is represented to ensure that services across Glasgow are more easily accessible for people who need them.
Laura-Jane said: “I was both surprised and proud in equal measure when I received the news regarding the academic awards, it was amazing. I am very grateful to my employer for supporting me throughout the course and allowing me the space and time to really dedicate myself to my studies.”
