CHAP Group breaks ground on new £19m student accommodation project in Dundee
Aberdeen-based construction firm CHAP Group has initiated work on a new £19 million student accommodation project in Dundee.
The project is being developed by Maven Capital Partners, alongside Glenmore Group and supported by Axiom Project Management, CAG Architects, Indev Consult and Hutcheon Services.
The project, termed the Hessian Student Accommodation, named after the hessian fabric factory formerly located on the development site, is located between Douglas Street and Brown Street in the heart of the city centre.
Full planning permission has been granted for 152 new PBSA studios, plus amenity spaces. Construction started in May 2023 and the property will be completed ahead of the 2024/25 academic year.
Commenting on the project, CHAP Group’s managing director Hugh Craigie said: “The Hessian Student Accommodation Project is a significant addition to CHAP Group’s portfolio and is part of our ambitious growth plans as we move into a new geographical area.
“We are thrilled to have been chosen as main contractor for this exciting project and to have the opportunity to work with such esteemed partners.
