Charity benefits from Viewpoint vigour
Viewpoint staff in Edinburgh has achieved the impressive feat of raising a massive £5000 for Marie Curie over a two year period.
Following an organisation-wide vote at their staff conference in 2013 fundraising started that very day. By June 2014, £1,940 had been raised and handed over to Fiona Bushby, community fundraiser, with Marie Curie. Staff initiated a variety of activities including Christmas raffles, bring and buy sales, coffee mornings as well as ongoing collecting through Marie Curie tubs and the annual Daffodil appeal.
During 2014, further efforts were made to exceed the amounts raised earlier. These included a sponsored walk, a World Cup sweepstake, an “Ice Bucket Challenge” with the chief executive and the directors getting soaked and a “Name the Baby” competition. In fact, fundraising was going so well, Marie Curie became Charity of the Year for a further year.
Activities have continued – there was a bidding session for donated theatre tickets, a Halloween “Finance Fright” day hosted by the Finance team, a Beetle Drive, more bring and buy sales and a further, longer, sponsored walk – all these while getting the day job done too.
Viewpoint is delighted to have helped Marie Curie and, as the next staff conference is coming shortly, Viewpoint staff will nominate a new Charity of the Year to benefit from the tremendous efforts of the staff.
