With veterans at the heart of its fundraiser, Skypark Glasgow is supporting the Scottish Fire Brigades Heritage Trust’s charity concert, which coincides with the 200-year anniversary of the world’s first fire service, founded by James Braidwood in 1824.

Featuring the State Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland and accompanied by pipers from Scottish Regiments, the concert will take place at the Beacon Arts Centre, Greenock, on 13th September.

All proceeds will be donated to veterans’ charities, the Army Benevolent Fund, Erskine Care Home and Sight Scotland as well as the Scottish Fire Brigades Heritage Trust. Tickets are available now and everyone is invited to show their support for the brave men and women that have put public safety first.

Dave Adam, chairman of Scottish Fire Brigades Heritage Trust, said: “We are proud once again to host the Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland at our charity concert to celebrate the 200-year anniversary of the Fire Service in Scotland.

“The Band has been particularly busy over the past few years, playing at the late Queen’s funeral and at the Coronation ceremonies of King Charles in London and Edinburgh. The concert will feature a wide range of music from traditional military, folk, movie themes and much more and will be accompanied by pipers from the Army School of Piping, Edinburgh.

“It’s a great family event and a chance to celebrate this historic year in the Scottish Brigade’s History. Everyone is invited to show their support for the veterans who will benefit from the concert.

“I would like to thank the team at Skypark, Rapid Fire Service and VQ Construction for helping us to make the concert happen and for their wonderful support”.

Malcolm McFetridge, centre manager at Skypark, said: “We are delighted to be able to support the Scottish Fire Brigades Heritage Trust’s concert, which marks 200 years of the UK Fire Service, who continue to put public safety first and to save lives. We hope that everyone will get behind the concert and make a difference to the veterans who play such a crucial role in our communities.”
