The Housing Festival was cut short in February due to the snow.

Entitled ‘The Next Big Thing’, the Housing Festival is structured around four themes: resilience, purpose, health and innovation. Delegates will hear from a range of speakers on topics such as the key links between housing and health, the importance of sustainable housing for people leaving prison, and the Scottish Housing Regulator’s new regulatory framework for social housing.

The event will also feature a debate on land supply with Andy Wightman MSP, Mike Bruce from Weslo Housing Management, Craig McLaren from RTPI Scotland, and David Morgan from Miller Homes. With the Scottish Parliament currently debating new planning legislation, this timely debate will explore how Scotland can develop the homes needed under the current system of land ownership and if we need to take a more radical approach to development.

CIH Scotland director, Annie Mauger, said: “We are delighted that many of our speakers have agreed to re-run their sessions for us today, and that so many delegates have also returned to hear more about these important issues.

“Today’s debate on the housing land market and the contribution of private sector led development is particularly timely given the recent report from the Scottish Parliament on the Planning Bill.”

Ms Mauger added: “We hope that today’s event helps to make up for some of the disappointment following February’s cancellation, and we are very much looking forward to a great day of sessions, discussion and networking.”
