COLAB launches Christmas gift appeal in collaboration with Simon Community Scotland
A Glasgow hub for retailers, entrepreneurs and local creatives has launched a Christmas appeal with Simon Community Scotland to gift homeless people with the essentials they need to survive the winter in the city.
The public can donate items to a dedicated drop off site within COLAB which, in partnership with the homelessness charity, will ensure the gifts are delivered to the people who urgently need the support.
Items Simon Community Scotland is appealing for include:
Natalia Codona, project manager of COLAB, said: “We are extremely proud of our forthcoming appeal with Simon Community, one of Glasgow’s leading homeless charities. We are set for another extremely cold and wet winter and are appealing to the public to dig deep to help us provide the homeless with the items they need to survive this period. We have set up a drop off point within the centre and encourage as many people as possible to donate if they can.”
Lorraine McGrath, Simon Community Scotland CEO, said: “At this time of year as most of us look forward to happy times with family and friends, it’s important that we spare a thought for those who are facing the enormous challenges associated with homelessness. Often we are asked by people representing all segments of society on how they can assist our organisation and purchasing a specific gift from this list will make a huge difference; both meeting a practical need and showing the most vulnerable in our society that someone cares. We are extremely grateful for the support of COLAB and all those who donate to the appeal.”
