Mr Morrison served as Member for the Port of Ness ward from 1978 to 1982. His sister-in-law, Katie Mackenzie, was later the Member for the Port of Ness ward from 1994 to 2003.

Cllr Kenny Macleod said: “In his four years as a Member of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, Angus served on the Education Committee, Housing Committee and Finance Committee, taking an interest in not just his own ward but also matters impacting the Western Isles as a whole. Our thoughts are with all those who knew Angus, particularly his wife, Dolina, his family, colleagues and friends.”

The flag at Comhairle nan Eilean Siar’s Sandwick Road Office will be flown at half-mast.
