Community Food Initiatives North East awarded £36,000 to support essential services
The Baker Hughes Foundation has announced a charitable grant of $50,000 (£36,000) to the local charity and social enterprise, Community Food Initiatives North East (CFINE) to support essential services to the local community.
The grant will allow the purchase of a refrigerated vehicle and, also, the essential resources and equipment required to provide training to CFINE’s beneficiaries, ensuring that participants can get the full benefit from the training experience.
Since lockdown measures were implemented last year, CFINE has been delivering hundreds of food parcels every day. Demand on resources is high and with an additional vehicle, the charity can ensure emergency deliveries are maintained to meet the increasing demand across the North East of Scotland.
CFINE’s core purpose and aims are to improve health and well-being and the environment, tackle poverty and build resilience for and with disadvantaged and vulnerable individuals, families, and communities.
Fiona Rae, depute chief executive of CFINE, said: “CFINE is delighted to receive such tremendous support from Baker Hughes Foundation; the demand on CFINE’s resources is high and with an additional vehicle, we can ensure essential deliveries can be maintained to meet the increasing demand across the North of Scotland.”
Romain Chambault, VP Europe – Oilfield Equipment, Baker Hughes, added: “As an active member of the community here in North Scotland, it’s important to give back and support the organisations that are making our community a better place to live and work. Since the beginning of the Coronavirus outbreak, CFINE has helped people facing hardships and it’s an honour to be able to support the efforts they are making to care for those in need.”
