Staff at Maryhill Housing Association have been recognised by the community they serve after being honoured in the “People Make Maryhill” awards.

Organised by Maryhill Parish Church last week, the event saw welfare rights officer David Atkinson and customer engagement manager Jamie Ballantine collect ‘unsung heroes’ awards alongside the Association’s Concierge Team, represented by Bobby Ross and Charlie Quigley.

The staff were rewarded for their commitment to helping others in the community as a result of their work. The nominations were made by local people who cast their votes in favour of the winners.

David assists tenants to access essential welfare benefits, which may otherwise go unclaimed while Jamie is a crucial link between the housing provider and local people and groups. Both staff members acknowledge that the award is a reflection of a combined team effort at the Association.

The award for all Concierge staff reflects the tremendous value local people place on this 24 hour service which serves 15 tower blocks in this North Glasgow community. Concierge supervisor Bobby Ross and team member Charlie Quigley were delighted to receive the award on behalf of their team.

Also honoured were Isabella and Alex McTaggart from Glenavon Residents’ Association for their voluntary work particularly with the Glenavon Residents’ Association along with Gillian Britton who is chair of Maryhill and Summerston Community Council. Maryhill Housing Association works closely with both of these local community groups.

We’re naturally delighted that two members of staff and the entire concierge team have triumphed in the Awards and that their hard work and commitment has been held up as something to celebrate.
