Community networking going strong at monthly breakfast events
Monthly Community Networking Breakfasts hosted by ng homes continue to be a huge success in bringing together people and organisations to share resources, connections, and experiences.
The ‘breakfasts’, held the last Friday of each month in Saracen House, Possilpark, continue to move from strength to strength, with each month’s event a buzz of excited conversation and networking.
A wide variety of organisations are now coming together to share information and partner together for the benefit of the community.
Each event begins with a ‘Speakers Corner’, where organisations share what they do. These have ranged from the Wise Group to the Glasgow Baby Food Bank, Dekko Comics, Possobilities and many more. Organisations and groups frequently use this time to share the latest information including campaigns, activities as well as offers of and requests for support.
Following the speakers, there is a chance to ask further questions followed by a chance to mingle, network and make those all-important contacts and partnerships. A highlight each time is the ‘marketplace’ - a chance to share and swap resources and contact details as well as leaflets, newsletters and more.
A local health visitor commented: “This event is very informative; it is so important to know what services are available locally for the families I visit.”
A teacher said: “An excellent event, there are so many contacts and community projects on our doorstep that could benefit the young people and families in the schools. This was my first time at the community breakfast, I left buzzing with excitement. I met so many new contacts, I have also decided to volunteer for one of the charities at the event.”
A family wellbeing worker added: “It was excellent, fantastic seeing everyone in person, such a great variety of services.”
ng homes is currently in the process of developing a Community Networking Breakfast app which will be a way for participants to stay in touch between events.
