This is the second year this funding has been provided by the UK Government and administered by the council.

The grant scheme was launched in August asking for applicants to come forward with suitable projects.

The fund aims to support projects which improve accessibility, energy efficiency or resilience as well supporting sports, arts, cultural and heritage assets and improving greenspace.

Twelve capital grants were awarded totalling £173,275 and 12 revenue grants were awarded totalling of £54,822.

The successful applicants include:

•  Wasp Community Club was awarded  £25,000 to renovate a disused shop space in Alloa town centre for use as a youth club and community café
• RSPB Scotland received £7402 to improve visitor amenity and biodiversity at Black Devon Wetlands
• Muckhart Coronation Hall was given £15,840 improve the energy efficiency in the facility
• Hawkhill Community Association received £23782.73 for the development of a sensory garden
• Alloa First was awarded £10,000  towards a scheme for businesses in the Business Improvement District to improve their frontages
• Tullibody Community Development Trust received £5000 to undertake feasibility work to improve the accessibility of the Civic Centre
• Dollar Community Development Trust was awarded £4421 to undertake consultation around planned public toilets

Tony McMinn, Wasp Community Club’s youth and schools coordinator, said: “The funding will help us provide a safe, multi-use space for numerous projects which will tackle some of the inequalities that people in Clackmannanshire face. In particular it will allow us to run activities for young people which we hope will have a positive impact on anti-social behaviour.  It will also help bring more footfall to the town centre and improve the look of the building.”

Council leader Ellen Forson added: “I am delighted to see 24 local projects benefit from this funding, which I am sure will make a real and lasting difference in our communities.”
