Community spirit celebrated at Kingdom Housing Association’s winter gathering
Tenants and staff from Kingdom Housing Association gathered online to celebrate all the good that has been achieved during a challenging year at the Association’s Scottish themed winter gathering.
The highlight of the event was the announcement of the winners of Kingdom’s inaugural Good Neighbour Awards, celebrating acts of kindness and support from Kingdom’s tenants across the central belt.
Attendees also heard about the success and recognition of Kingdom’s Tenant Scrutiny Panel at the recent Tenants Information Service Awards and were provided with an overview of how they can get involved with tenant participation in the future.
In addition to service updates and reflection on the year, participants enjoyed a couple of live musical performances and were able to attend virtual workshops on mindfulness and gardening.
Bill Banks, Kingdom Group chief executive, who formally opened the winter gathering, said: “2020 has been a tough year for everyone and we’ve all faced unexpected challenges. But there have also been lots of heart-warming stories about how people are coming together and helping others in their communities. We wanted to celebrate these moments of kindness which is why we launched our first ever Good Neighbour Awards, recognising the people who go above and beyond for their neighbours and their communities.
“We were really impressed by the volume of nominations and our independent panel of judges had a difficult time choosing winners and runners up in each of our four categories. Every nominee could have been a worthy winner and I want to congratulate everyone who received a nomination. Kingdom’s Good Neighbour Awards is certainly something we plan to do again in the future.”
