Community views to shape new proposals for South Stirling Gateway site
Persimmon Homes is consulting the local community on proposals for the next stage of development at the South Stirling Gateway site which could deliver 364 energy-efficient new homes.
The housebuilder has already secured in-principle planning permission for part of Stirling Council’s South Stirling Gateway site, which is located between Bannockburn and the Pirnhall M9 junction and is allocated for development in the Local Development Plan.
It is now consulting on new proposals for adjacent areas of land that would see 364 energy-efficient new homes built in the area, with 90 of those transferred to a housing association to help local people in housing need.
Around 50 residents attended Persimmon Homes’ first consultation event in the Bannockburn Enterprise Hub and a further event is now planned for Wednesday 21 June between 15.30 and 19.30. It will give local residents the opportunity to hear directly from the Persimmon team about their plans for the area and how the home builder’s investment can benefit the wider community.
As well as providing much-needed new homes, the Gateway development will deliver a new primary school, additional funding for Bannockburn High School and local GP services – as well as a series of local road improvements.
If approved, the new proposals would create an estimated 175 construction jobs and see Persimmon contribute around £5.5m of additional funding to support local services and facilities. This includes £3.7m towards the new Brucefields Primary School, £1.2m for Bannockburn Secondary School and over £400,000 for local road and path improvements.
Donald Gunn, Persimmon East Scotland land director, said: “We’re pleased to be bringing forward the next phase of our plans for South Stirling Gateway and I want to thank local residents who have taken the time to engage with us so far.
“The South Stirling Gateway site provides a major opportunity to deliver new homes, jobs and investment for the area and we want to work with the local community to ensure our investment leaves a positive, lasting legacy across Stirling.
“With nearly half of our customers first-time buyers and the average price of our homes 16% below the average price of a new build in Scotland, we’re proud to be opening the door to home ownership for more local families.”
