Construction begins on 125 new homes in Coaltown of Wemyss

Persimmon North Scotland has kicked off the construction of 125 new energy-efficient homes in Coaltown of Wemyss.

Located on recently acquired land south of Main Street, the Castle Park site has already received planning approval and will provide a mix of two- and three-bedroom homes, enhancing housing options for local families and first-time buyers.

The development will also deliver new amenities and community contributions to the village, including a dedicated open public space and a public art installation delivered by local artists. Persimmon North Scotland has further committed over £130,000 to support local schools and £62,000 to upgrade existing play facilities, boosting recreational opportunities for families.

Three homes will be specifically allocated to assist local families in housing need.

Castle Park is expected to create significant local employment, with 46 direct jobs and 34 roles within the wider supply chain, contributing to economic growth in Fife. Construction is underway, and the first homes are scheduled to be ready for occupancy by September 2025.

James MacKay, Persimmon North Scotland managing director, said: “We are delighted to be bringing the Castle Park development to Coaltown of Wemyss. This project will deliver much-needed new homes at an affordable level and help support more local families to own their own home.

“The development will also deliver a significant investment in local amenities, and we look forward to working with the community as we bring this exciting site to life.”
