Contractor appointed for £4m West Highland works programme
West Highland Housing Association (WHHA) has appointed Oban-based Neil McGougan Ltd as the new contractor for its £4 million major works programme.
The works will include the replacement of 150 kitchens, 400 bathrooms, 90 windows and doors and 150 heating upgrades.
Dougie Mackie, chair of WHHA, said: “Neil McGougan Ltd has a long track record of successfully delivering our component replacements and property upgrade works across Argyll, and we are delighted to appoint them as our new contractor for the next five years.
“This work forms part of our 30-year investment strategy for our stock, which ensures our properties are kept to a high standard for our customers.
“Our heating upgrades include work supported by the Scottish Government’s Decarbonisation Fund, which will enable us to fit heat pumps with Sunamp heat batteries, which will not only reduce the carbon intensity of our stock, but also the running costs for our tenants.”
Craig McGougan, director of Neil McGougan Ltd, said: “We are pleased to have been appointed to undertake this work for West Highland Housing Association.
“It provides our company and local workforce with continuity of work during the coming years.
“Additionally, it creates new employment opportunities for at least three new employees and training opportunities through work placements and apprenticeships.”
