Council approves plans for 10 short-term lets in Kinross High Street

Perth and Kinross Council have approved plans for ten short-term let units above a Kinross High Street supermarket.

Glenshire Developments Ltd submitted plans to transform a building currently used as storage space by Greens of Kinross into one-bedroom holiday lets.

The council’s planning and application committee unanimously approved the application when it met last week.

The development would see eight one-bedroom units built on the first floor and two one-bedroom units on the second-floor level – all with ensuite facilities and a kitchenette. There will also be a communal seating area on the first floor.

It is located within the Kinross Conservation Area.

A total of seven letters of objection to the plans were submitted to the council including from Kinross-shire Civic Trust and Kinross Community Council, the Courier reports.

Ten of the 47 spaces within the existing supermarket car park will be allocated for the short-term lets. Concern was raised by objectors about the impact this would have on town centre parking.

However, the PKC report of handling said it was “a private facility which is not always at capacity, and would leave a sufficient level of parking for both the existing and proposed use”.
