People across North Lanarkshire are being urged to cut their energy bills and take advantage of a fuel switching scheme organised by North Lanarkshire Council.

Open to all households and small businesses, the Big Switch, is a collective switching service to help reduce energy costs.

Similar schemes fuel switching held in other parts of the United Kingdom have saved households, on average, £221 on their annual bill.

Launching the initiative, Councillor Sam Love said: “Fuel bills can be very expensive and everyone would like to reduce their bills.

“I’m sure lots of people will be aware that switching supplier or tariff could save them money. As a council, we decided to try and help our residents and businesses to achieve this.

“We’ve set up the Big Switch to help people easily find out about better deals they could take advantage of and help them cut their costs.

“The more people we can get to register, the more power we have to negotiate special rates with energy suppliers and the more money we could all save.

“Don’t miss this opportunity, sign up and let’s put money back in everyone’s pockets.”

Taking part is free, quick and simple with no obligation to switch. Registration opens 24 March and closes at midnight on 18 May.
