Council provides another affordable housing boost for Leven
An affordable housing development by Fife Council in Leven is now complete with all 31 houses now occupied.
The Turpie Road project consists of a mix of flats, houses and wheelchair accessible homes, building a new community.
Councillor Judy Hamilton, convener of the community and housing services committee, recently visited the site to meet with new tenants.
She said: “It’s great to see people settling into their new council houses that fit their needs.
“We are absolutely committed to building more affordable housing across Fife. Not only are these new homes transforming the lives of the tenants who move into them, it’s freeing up their old homes for others in housing need too.”
Tenant Janey Roy added: “I previously I lived in a 13-story block of flats and although I lived on the fourth floor, at times the lift didn’t work. I struggle with my knees and to climb the stairs was difficult. I had lived there 11 years and although I enjoyed my time there and made some good friends, it became increasingly difficult to manage in the flat.
“I now live in a flat on the ground floor which is all on the one level with a garden. I am looking forwards to sitting out in the summer and getting my washing out in the better weather.”
