Council repairs go digital in East Dunbartonshire
Tenants requesting repairs to their homes are to benefit from new digital technology introduced by East Dunbartonshire Council.
The new scheduling system includes a text messaging service and Dynamic Scheduling software for all property repairs across the council. Jobs are now issued to operatives electronically, via hand held devices, removing the need for them to return to the depot throughout the day.
Councillor Billy Hendry, depute convenor of policy and resources, said: “Not only will this new service see massive financial savings for the council but it also gives the tenant a much smoother, slicker and quicker service.”
When a tenant now telephones the council’s Contact Centre or visits one of its Hubs to report a fault, they will be given the first available appointment slot, specific to the trade required. The appointment will also be confirmed via a text message to the tenant. A further text will be issued as a reminder, 24hrs before the appointment.
Customers will also be given the opportunity to complete a simple electronic customer satisfaction survey where they can comment on their experience of the service delivered.
Councillor Hendry added: “The technology will continue to evolve and the feedback we received will be used to improve the overall customer experience for our tenants.”
