Cunninghame Housing Association awards £1,000 to Ayrshire table tennis player
Cunninghame Housing Association has presented a cheque for £1,000 to young table tennis player Holly McNamara.
Ms McNamara is 17 years of age and plays for North Ayrshire Table Tennis Club and is also a member of Team Scotland.
She was recently selected to play in the European Youth Table Tennis Championships which were held in Belgrade, Serbia. She has also just completed her level 1 coaching qualification and intends to use her experience to coach younger members at her Club.
Ms McNamara has put in a lot of hard work and training which has paid off with her being selected to join her fellow teammates and travel to Serbia to compete. The opportunity for Holly to take part in the European Youth Table Tennis Championships has given her the experience in competing at international level.
It has also given her the opportunity to play against some of the best young table tennis players in Europe as well as building her experience and ability enabling her to pass on what she has learnt to the next generation of children coming through the Club.
The funding provided by Cunninghame Housing Association supported Holly with the financial costs involved in attending the European Championships which prove to be costly given the location in Serbia.
Chairperson John Kelly said: “The Association are pleased to assist Holly in enabling her to take part in the European Youth Table Tennis Championships in Serbia and experience a different level of competition playing with some of the best players in Europe.”
The funding for Holly McNamara came from the Associations “Making Our Communities a Better Place Fund” which operates throughout the year (1st April to 31st March) until the allocated funding is exhausted.
