C~urb partners with Manor Estates and Hillhead to deliver affordable homes
Housing associations Hillhead and Manor Estates have been supported by property development specialist C~urb to advance their provision of affordable homes.
These projects will deliver 66 affordable homes; 25 for Manor Estates and 41 for Hillhead, delivered to meet the demand for communities in Edinburgh and Kirkintilloch.
C~urb, part of the Link group of companies, provides a range of property development, management and maintenance services for partners across Scotland.
C~urb managing director and Link Group commercial director Colin Culross said: “We are delighted to assist the teams at Hillhead and Manor Estates to help deliver more homes, especially given the pressured housing needs, highlighted in Scotland’s housing emergency.
“People across Scotland are desperately in need of affordable housing, and I’m pleased C~urb can work with a range of like-minded partners to make new homes a reality and help serve their communities.”
Manor Estates Housing Association appointed C~urb to the project earlier this year following a competitive tendering exercise. C~urb is providing development agency and clerk of works services for the second phase of new build housing at Manor Estates’ Springfield Echline development of 25 homes.
Since the appointment, C~urb has worked with the Manor Estates team to secure in-principle-funding approval for its project and has prepared and submitted the tender submission to the City of Edinburgh Council, which has now been approved allowing a site start in September 2024.
Manor Estates Housing Association property services director, Amanda Hay, said: “We are pleased to have the support of the C~urb team assisting us with the documentation, grant submissions and working with CEC and the developer.
“The team are attentive and highly experienced, they have smoothed the journey for Manor Estates towards site start and beyond.”
Hillhead appointed C~urb in April 2023 to deliver a design and construction project as part of a Section 75 Agreement.
C~urb has worked with Hillhead and the contractor to agree the specification, contract costs, legals, secured tender and funding approval.
The Fauldhead Road development of 41 homes started on site in August 2024.
Hillhead Housing Association director, Catherine McKiernan, said: “Hillhead Housing Association are pleased to be working with C~urb to progress the Fauldhead Road site to provide much needed affordable homes in our local community.
“Their specialist advice and experience has been invaluable in navigating the fine detail of this project.
“We look forward to continuing to work with them through the period of the contract, and to reaching our end goal of offering secure tenancies in high quality homes to those in housing need.”
C~urb currently provides Development Agency Services to nine housing associations.
