Designs on show for Musselburgh Flood Protection Scheme
Initial designs for the Musselburgh Flood Protection Scheme are to be presented at a public event next month.
The initial Outline Design for the Musselburgh Flood Protection Scheme will be presented at a two-day event at the Eskmills Venue, Eskmills Business Park, Station Road, Musselburgh, EH21 7PE on Tuesday 20 and Wednesday 21 June, 2023. Opening times for the exhibition are from 10am to 8pm each day.
The development of the Outline Design has followed more than two years of extensive consultation with residents, local businesses and other stakeholders within Musselburgh whose feedback has helped to shape the initial design.
East Lothian Council leader, Norman Hampshire, said: “The Project Team have sought to engage with as many people within Musselburgh as possible to provide information about the significant flood risk to the town and the means to protect properties and infrastructure through an integrated scheme. We have been very grateful to those who have provided comments and posed questions that have proven to be invaluable when considering the best possible scheme recognising the unique character of Musselburgh.
“I would urge all those with an interest to come along to this public event and see the initial Outline Design and to again provide feedback on this for further consideration. The Project Team will collate this feedback to inform a further report leading to possible revision to the Outline Design before it is then submitted to the full Council meeting in February 2024 for approval.”
