Developer contributions agreed for 500 homes at Trump golf estate
Affordable housing payments are among the developer contributions agreed by Aberdeenshire Council to allow the Trump Organisation to build as many as 500 houses and 50 holiday homes on the Menie Estate, near Balmedie.
Under the deal, £770,000 will be paid towards affordable housing in the Ellon area for the first 77 homes delivered as part of the development. It will increase by £10,000 for each extra home added as the work goes on.
A contract has been agreed, setting out the 28 conditions Trump International must meet before breaking ground.
More than two years have passed since the development proposals within the Trump International Golf Links estate at Menie were backed by 38 votes to 24.
The application was initially expected to be considered in February 2019 but late information was received which delayed the decision.
Other plans for the 1,500-acre estate, which were lodged in July 2018, include 50 hotel cottages, sports centre, retail, equestrian and commercial spaces, alongside other resort related leisure facilities.
Detailed plans will still need to be submitted for the future phases of housing before work can start.
