For the first time, the programme will be guest-curated by Under One Roof, Scotland’s charity for supporting tenement owners.

The theme of this year’s festival is “Standing Strong”, which will highlight the value of regular building maintenance and community approaches to looking after buildings and places.

It will also examine the challenges of retrofitting buildings to address the climate emergency and achieve net-zero carbon emission targets. Already joining the programme are past Doors Open Days favourites the Victorian Classroom at the History of Education Centre and the historic Custom House in Leith.

Doors Open Days is much-loved by the public in the East of Scotland, and this year we will continue to help the public have a special inside look at buildings,spaces and other hidden treasures.

Doors Open Days is organised nationally by the Scottish Civic Trust, is part of European Heritage Days and is supported by Historic Environment Scotland. Local coordinators from civic trusts, community groups and local authorities create and manage programmes in each region.
