Drop-in event in Arbroath to help residents struggling with costs of living
Angus residents are invited to drop into a free Cost of living roadshow at Arbroath FC grounds at Gayfield Park on Wednesday 5 October 2022 between 11am and 3pm to find out about support available with the increase in the cost of living.
The Angus Community Planning Partnership is bringing organisations together to give local residents the chance to get advice on all things money-related from council services such as welfare rights, housing, revenues and benefits, vibrant communities, as well as external organisations Citizens Advice Bureau, PENUMBRA, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, ANGUSalive, NHS and many others.
As well as providing information and advice, there will be a cooking on a budget demonstration, grab a bags with cooking ingredients available and free period products for collection. Community café volunteers will provide free refreshments including tea, coffee and soup during the drop-in session.
Angus Council’s deputy leader and finance convenor, Councillor Bill Duff, said: “We are facing the biggest cost of living crisis in decades. We recognise the impact increased costs is having on people with families seeing huge increases in their food, energy and fuel costs leaving many struggling to pay their bills, and we want to support residents by providing relevant advice and information.
“The cost of living roadshow event brings council and partner organisations together in one place where people can come and find out exactly what financial help is out there as well as advice and tips. I’d encourage everyone to drop in. If successful, we are hoping to have more roadshows throughout Angus.”
