Dundee block of flats set for communal lighting replacement
Almost 100 blocks of flats in the Menzieshill area of Dundee could see new communal lighting installed if councillors back the move next week.
Dundee City Council’s neighbourhood resources, housing and estate management committee will be asked to approve works valued at more than £1 million on internal and external lighting systems.
Kevin Cordell, committee convener, said: “The lighting on these blocks has come to the end of its useful life and replacing it will help to maintain the safety and security of the people who live in them.”
The work, recommended to be carried out by the council’s in-house construction services division, will see the old lighting stripped out and removed before being replaced with new British Standard internal and external systems.
If approved the £1,046,057 of work on the 92 blocks in Yarrow Terrace and Tweed Crescent is expected to start in spring next year with completion due in autumn.
The neighbourhood services, housing and estate management committee meets on Monday, December 2.
