Dundee council homes to benefit from £4m external wall insulation work
A near £4 million programme of external wall insulation is to be installed into Dundee City Council homes thanks to the Home Energy Efficiency Programme for Scotland, councillors will be told next week.
Members of the neighbourhood services committee will hear that properties in Tullideph, Marshall Street, Pitairlie Road, Graham Street and Douglas will benefit from the work.
This particular project comprises of 422 properties with a client contribution for 259 tenanted properties.
The balance of funding will be met from Energy Company Obligation (ECO) and Home Energy Efficiency Programme Scotland – Area Based Schemes (HEEPS – ABS) funding.
Committee convener Councillor Kevin Cordell, said the project will ensure that warmer homes that are easier to heat and more energy efficient are within reach for more people in Dundee.
He added: “I am firmly committed to ensuring that the council continues to do all it can to make sure the people have energy efficient homes.
“This is a great programme and the benefits are huge for the tenant as it means money stays in their pockets and their homes are warmer.
“Through projects such as this and Housing Concrete Repairs, it is clear that we are taking huge steps in eradicating fuel poverty in the city.”
